ENG 4197 PRESENTATION

I find that a lot of depth can be lost during presentations, due to nervousness of the speaker, monotony of voice, and pressure on the audience to generate on-the-spot discussion. I am not speaking about others in the class, but more speaking about myself and my experience with past presentations.

I intend for this online presentation to give you all a chance to consider these readings deeply, from the comfort of your own homes, with the power of the internet at your disposal. Read Ross Gay on my website instead of on Blackboard this week! See if you agree or disagree with my readings. Formulating deep and informed opinions can often be much easier if we have a reading/opinion to guide us, or with which to vehemently disagree.

My readings of Ross Gay will hopefully serve as a map and guide your readings in a meaningful way. This presentation will also give you the chance to earn participation points, outside of the pressures of class discussion. Browse around and enjoy the poems! They are based in our city of Philadelphia, written in modern English and touch on themes that feel very current, so Ross Gay is the perfect author to read for enjoyment, as well as for academic credit.

Best,

Tara
